Journalism Machine

Today I learned how much of a journalism machine I am capable of being. I was able to grind out two stories and did all the work for a third story.

I woke up nice and early around 5 o'clock and got ready to attend the Georgia Delegate breakfast. I was thrilled to be apart of this event, but anxious to get started on interviews. I had a sneaking suspicion this would be a great day for me. I met DuBose Porter, although was unable to interview him because he had to go meet his son. I did however meet and interview former Mayor Shirley Franklin, which was an honor. I reconnected with the LGBT alternate delegate I met yesterday at the black tie event and was able to interview him for a profile.

I kept in contact with the LGBT alternate delegate all day and this story was the highlight of my day, and trip so far. I had set a goal to interview someone from LGBT just because I have so many friends that the marriage equality bill means something to. While it does not directly affect me, it affects America which makes it as much my passion as anything else I write about. However, like I have discussed in other blog posts I have really found a passion in social issues.

I wrote a story regarding the breakfast this morning and what they anticipated for the day ahead.

Tomorrow I will finish up my Michelle Obama speech article and begin and finish my video project video. I'm a little nervous about the video project considering I prefer not to be in front of the camera, but perhaps there is a first time for everything. The more experience the better.
